Wir haben unsere bisherigen Aktivitäten und weiteren Vorhaben in einem Projektantrag zusammengestellt, um Sponsoren für das Projekt zu gewinnen und uns um Fördergelder zu bemühen.

Girls from the Sankt Monicas Girls School
Zielgruppe:
Die Computerschule im Jugendzentrum „Bishop Mahon“ wendet sich an zwei Zielgruppen:
a) Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene (14 Jahre – 25 Jahre)
Dieser Altersgruppe sind ca. 30.000 Personen zuzurechnen.
b) Mädchen der St. Monica Lodwar Girls Primary School (1. ‑ 8. Klasse).
810 Schülerinnen besuchen die benachbarte staatliche Mädchenschule.
Kurzbeschreibung – Zielsetzung und geplante Maßnahmen
Ziel 1
Weiterer Ausbau der Computerschule und Erarbeitung eines mehrstufigen Bildungsangebotes für beide Zielgruppen. Die Grundlagenausbildung umfasst den Umgang mit Computern und Internet und den Besuch von Spezialisierungskursen z.B. für Office-Anwendungen. Darüber hinaus wird ein Kurs zum Erwerb eines international anerkannten Industriezertifikates (IT-Essential) angeboten.
Die Computerschule wird über geregelte Öffnungszeiten und ausgebildetes Personal den Zielgruppen zugänglich gemacht.
Ziel 2
In den Lehrplan der Mädchenschule wird die informatische Grundausbildung integriert. Ein Partnerschulprojekt mit einer Grundschule in Deutschland wird initiiert.

Die Energieversorgung des Computerraumes ist durch eine Batteriepufferung mit Solareinspeisung zu erweitern. Die derzeitig eingesetzten Computer (PIII 800MHz) und Röhrenmonitore sind durch energiearme Modelle zu ersetzen.
Es ist ein Vollzeit-Arbeitsplatz für einen PC-Techniker zu schaffen.
zu Ziel 1
Für die Umsetzung der Grundlagenausbildung ist mit den Dozenten Vor-Ort ein Lehrplan zu entwickeln und das Begleitmaterial für die Teilnehmer zu erstellen. Das Bildungsangebot muss im Ort bekannt gemacht werden. Über eine geringe Teilnahmegebühr sind die Honorare der Dozenten abzusichern und die Nachhaltigkeit dieser Maßnahme zu gewährleisten.
zu Ziel 2
Gemeinsam mit den Lehrern der Mädchenschule ist ein Curriculum für den Unterricht zu entwickeln und mit zwei Gruppen (je Gruppe 11 Schülerinnen – Verhältnis Schülerin: Computer 1:1) zu testen. Nach der Evaluation werden die Unterrichtseinheiten in den Stundenplan der Schule integriert und in den Regelbetrieb überführt.
Um sich gegenseitig über ihr Leben, ihre Kultur und ihre persönlichen Freuden und Wünsche zu informieren, wird ein Partnerschulprojekt mit einer deutschen Grundschule initiiert.
Durch die verschiedenen Kurse der Computerschule werden alle Bereiche der Bildung qualitativ gestärkt. Insbesondere Kindern und Jugendlichen wird damit ein Zugang zum Internet als Kommunikations- und Informationsplattform geschaffen, wodurch auch ihre beruflichen Chancen verbessert werden. In Kooperation mit den Partnern vor Ort wird ein dauerhafter und nachhaltiger Kurs-Betrieb erreicht.
Die Kosten für den Regelbetrieb (Internet 32,000 Kshs/ Monat; Energie ca. 6,000 Kshs/Monat und eine Vollzeit Technikerstelle 20,000 Kshs/Monat) werden bereits während der Projektlaufzeit durch den Projektträger finanziert. Dies entspricht einem Gesamtaufwand von 580 € /Monat.

We are understanding, that donors are moving increasingly towards a more result oriented development assistance. Therefore we have created this report provides information on our previous activities and describes our planes.

Target group:
We would like to target two groups of people for our activities with the installation of the computer lab in the Youth Centre, called Bishop Mahon:
a) Young person and young adults (14 year- 25 year)
Approx. 30,000 people in Lodwar
b) Girls from St. Monica Girls Primary School
It is a governmental school with 810 pupils.
Short description- goals and planned actions
Goal 1
To continue the extension of the computer lab and to create a multistage education offer for both target groups.
The basic course included dealing with computers and internet. The course will also cover specialization courses like office applications. Further there will be an offer for an international recognized industry course (IT- Essential).
The computer lab has regular opening times and skilled teacher to teach the target groups.
Goal 2
The IT- course will co-ordinate with the curriculum of the St. Monica Girls Primary School. A joint project will initiate between the St. Monica Girls Primary School and a Primary School in Germany.

Preface:

to goal 1
A curriculum for the basic course is to develop together with the trainer in Lodwar. Further covering material for the participants of the course is to produce.
The course is to advertise in Lodwar. The participants of the course will pay a reasonable course fee to cover the costs for the trainer and to guarantee a sustainable action.
to goal 2
A curriculum for the IT- course is to develop together with the trainer of the computer lab and the teacher of the St. Monica Girls Primary School. This curriculum is to test with two groups of girls (each group – 11 pupils, ratio pupil/ computer 1:1). The IT-course is to integrate in the regular curriculum of the school after a successful evaluation.
The goal for the joint project is it to exchange information about the life, the culture and to make friends.
The different courses of the computer lab are very gainful, because they are able to strengthen the quality of education. The courses presents excellent opportunities to equip children and young adults with knowledge of ICT. That make them more competent and increasing their chance for a self-determinate future. Through the cooperation with partners in Lodwar there is a strong commitment for regular and sustainable courses.
The costs for the courses are covered during the project time through the project partner in Lodwar already. In detail that are: Internet 32,000 Kshs/ month; energy approx. 6,000 Kshs/month and a full-time employee as PC-Technician 20,000 Kshs/month. Under using the official exchange rate at this time it makes approx. 580€/month.
